Risk Preferences
Some people are risk takers – they tend to embrace risk.
Other people are risk averse – they try to avoid risk.
For most people, their attitude about risk depends on the type of risk. For example, someone may welcome physical risk while avoiding financial risk. Another person may have no problem with financial risk, but they may dislike social risks, such as delivering a speech.
One thing is for sure – no matter your attitude about risk, you simply can’t avoid all risk. Whether working or playing or even visiting the grocery store, risks are all around us. Therefore, a good understanding of risk is a valuable intellectual asset.
